YouTube - Martin Luther King "I have a dream"
Although I realize that this site is dedicated to storytelling, the inclusion of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech is not an inappropriate connection. There was a time when Dr. King's dream had all the believability of a hopeful fairytale.
Dr. King narrates for us a story of an ideal America. He fills our imagination with the hope and possibility of a just America, an America that looks beyond the superficiality of a person's skin color to look at the content of his/her character. Who among us, other than Dr. King, could have dreamed that the fairytale would come true, to a great extent, within our young lifetime. The seed that King's 1963 speech planted has taken root and has blossomed into our first African-American President elect- Barack Obama.
Congratulations Barack Obama; and congratulations America. Although you still have much to do, You're finally begining to grow up.
